So, hey. Kidnapped huh. [Kidnapped again, more like it. He leans back and strokes his lack of beard, allowing the rest of his face to be seen. There's a Sentret flopped over his shoulder like a pancake.]

This is a lot better than most kidnappings I've been to. I even get a free--uh, I'm not sure what this is. [He checks out that Sentret. It's a little familiar to him but not quite enough. Like a squished fire ferret.] Yeah, I don't know. But he is adorable! Don't tell Pabu I said that.

[The Sentret makes some little squeaky noises from his shoulder.]

Ahh, guys! It's assaulting me with cuteness! Do you think I should name him?

Oh, wow. That's cool of you to do. You must be pretty smart. [She is totally a charity-bestowing genius in his mind now.]

Haha, sure! I mean, he has to impress the poke-ladies too, right?

[Sheepish grin. Someone just called her smart? That's ...about as rare as 'you're his hero' comments from that one girl who she met on this network.] W-Well, I had great teachers, and I basically spent my childhood reading books from my parents' bookshelf to get some medical knowledge so that helps a lot with my work too. [aaaand some people might sound over-confident or bragging about stuff like that, Winry really doesn't. She's just Winry and normal. She might be blushing a little though!]

He does, especially if you're a breeder? Not that it's a bad thing to impress the ladies as a trainer's pokemon either. [Turning a bit to the left, and ignoring the screen for a moment. "Hey, Didi, come here."]

[Bolin nods.] I don't really get to read much. We don't have the money for books.

I'm a trainer, they said. I've trained animals before, so I guess I'm better off doing that.

[usedwrench]

[No money? Ouch.] I don't read that much nowadays, I'm usually busy with work at home and here... Well, with everything that we can do in this world. Except my actual job here, I haven't even started it yet.

Another trainer to my list then. I'm a breeder, so maybe you'll buy pokemon from me la-- [Audino crawls onto Winry's lap.] --ter. And about those opinions from poke-ladies, this is Didi~. She's an Audino.

Didi, say hello? [Yup, she'll say hi! By using ATTRACT! Winry growls.] ...I guess you can do it that way too, but seriously? [Never mind them having their usual "fight" on Didi's behavior.]

[Hey, he gets to sleep in an actual bed now! Or did until he came here.]

Oh hey, she's cute. [Bolin has no idea what Didi is doing, but his sentret is bouncing on his tail in greeting. (And because that's what he always seems to be doing.)]

Well, what do you think, Didi? Is Banji a good name for a handsome Sentret?

[Sleeping on the actual beds is nice! Sleeping on Altaria's cotton candy-like soft wings is nice too if actual beds are nowhere near you.]

Thanks, I'm sure she loves the compliment. [Winry hugs the little creature and yes, Audino says thank you in poke-language too - and it waves to the Sentret. Hello new friend!

Then Didi tilts her head to both sides and looks a bit thoughtful. ...She nods twice and smiles. Yup, it's good.]

[Winry laughs a bit.] Maybe she'll ask Banji's opinion on his own name later because Audino's have a talent to assess pokemons' feelings.

Really? I wonder if they've all got a special talent like that. This guy is supposed to be a scout.

[The sentret--Banji?--bounces up and down on his tail to gain some height, as if to confirm.]

Maybe I should teach him some signals.

Yes, really. And they all usually have their own special abilities. A scout, really?

[Awwww, it's so cute!]

You really should! It gives you two something to do while you're traveling, and they might be really useful one day.

Yeah, good thing, too. I might need a little help finding my way around the woods. [He looks out offscreen.] Though it looks like the road it pretty clear, I'll have to find him berries and stuff, right?

Right! I just got to figure out what to teach him.

Well, the first route is easy - there's mostly just grassy areas. Wild pokemon are everywhere on the grass though, so if you ever want to avoid them, stay away from the grass. And some people get lost everywhere, even there, but it should take only about three days to the next town from New Bark.

[Thumbs up!] Maybe he'll teach them to his pokemon friends one day!

I might be one of those people. But hey, maybe he can scout out the road for me!

Oh... [Sheepish grin. She'll never let you travel together with Shiraishi.] Well, he can definitely help you. And you could catch a bird pokemon, that'll help you a lot too.

Also, those berries that you mentioned... You have a guide for them somewhere in the stuff that you got when you arrived here. Just make sure that you don't eat them, they really are good for pokemon only.

That's a good idea ... can they talk to each other? The pokemon, I mean.

They can! I'm not hundred percent sure if all pokemon are able to talk with each other, but at least most of them talk with each other all the time.

Then I just need to learn to talk to one of them!

[a giggle] Well, you could get a psychic type pokemon. At least some of them can talk to you if you want to talk with them literally.

Oooh, that would save a lot of time. How do I get one of them?

[usedwrench]

Well, to be completely honest - I'm not sure how many of them can do that. Maybe all of them, maybe not all of them. I'm not too familiar with the type.

But, you may find some of them from all over Johto while you're traveling - you can check all the information, including the type, about every pokemon you encounter with this device. It has a program which contains info about all of these creatures.

Also, you might find them from breeders, like me but I don't currently have any to give to anyone, every now and then ... and get one if you're lucky. That is, if they still have some available for you.

Or you can give a call to the breeding centre, they might have some of those even right now and they're fast with sending it to you no matter where you are. They even have a deal for newcomers; you get your first pokemon from them for free.

...also, all pokemon come from eggs. It's weird because some of them are big even on their first day, but... Yeah. Okay, I'm speaking too much.

Wow, that's really useful, thanks! But eggs? Even if they're made out of metal?

[He looks at what they have.] Huh, the very first one is a psychic, and they've got five of him. I probably should think about it a bit more before asking for one, though. 'Sides, I want to make sure I can take care of this guy first. [He gives Banji a smile.]

You're welcome. Yeah, eggs, all of them - even if they're made out of metal, or have fiery manes. ...Oh wait, I think fiery parts appear after hatching, but anyway.

[She gives him a calm smile.] I'd say that's a good plan. No need to rush things when we're all stuck here for who knows how long.

People get used to it, more or less, so I wouldn't think about it too hard.

...I do, but my closest friends from home are here, so that helps a lot.
